Automatic palletising line for boxes

A leading Finnish multinational in the sustainable packaging sector, chose Europack to develop an automatic palletising line for boxes at its Belfast site. The solution was designed to optimise production efficiency and ensure operational flexibility.

Customer requirements

The customer needed a system to palletise boxes of different sizes from two separate supply lines. The main challenges were:

The simultaneous handling of two pallets of varying sizes (Euro 800x1200 and CP1 1000x1200).
A productivity of 350 products/hour for each line, with different products.
Easy and intuitive creation of box palletising recipes according to production batches.

Technical solution: Winner 1000 boxes palletising robot

The heart of the line is the Winner 1000 robot, developed in collaboration with ABB while retaining all the features developed over more than 25 years of experience. This system can handle boxes up to 600x450x340 mm with a customised gripping head. The head includes:

Robust aluminium and stainless steel materials.
Electropneumatic technology to ensure precision and safety in picking and depositing.
Advanced synchronisation for product detection.
Vacuum suction cups for applying paper layers.

Integrated processes in the box palletising line

The line is configured with the following functionalities:

Feeding and singularising boxes

The boxes arrive by means of roller conveyors equipped with pneumatic devices to singularise the product in the picking phase.

Automatic pallet distribution

Two automatic de-stackers manage the supply of empty pallets, guaranteeing a continuous process flow and reducing operational stops.

Optimised palletising

The box palletising robot deposits boxes on pallets with precision, ensuring stability even for complex configurations.

Compact line and pallet deviation

Thanks to 2 deviation stations at 90°, complete pallets are transferred to the next stage in a parallel roller conveyor, optimising space.

Preparation for wrapping

Prior to wrapping, an area consisting of two rotary tables allows the manual application of protective corners, in safety for the operator.
